CBD for Dogs full step by step

You love CBD, you love your dog, the obvious conclusion is? Of course, how about CBD for your dog? Although this logic does not work for all your other favorites (pizza, beer, coffee, snowboarding) it turns out CBD for your dog is a pretty good idea! All of the reasons that people take CBD apply to dogs because they are man’s best friend. Just kidding, it’s because dogs are mammals like us, which means the systems which make up their bodies share many of the same basic characteristics as ours. One system, in particular, is of great importance, the endocannabinoid system. Ok, that is a big word, be careful trying to say it… Don’t worry, this is not a biology blog, we can break it down and give you the essentials.

Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid (EDB) system is a complex system that can be found inside all mammals, dogs, and people included, it produces chemicals called cannabinoids, to help our bodies in various ways. Cannabinoids… sound familiar? Exactly, the very compounds that are extracted and put into CBD products are produced in the body, by taking CBD you are just giving your body a little extra help. Supplementing your body with CBD is widely understood to have many benefits, the specifics of which science is unlocking every day.

What is known is that the endocannabinoid system is tasked with relegating many physiological processes such as appetite, pain-sensation, mood, and memory. These are the same in all mammals, especially you and your best friend.

Types of CBD for your Dog

CBD can be broken down into 3 different categories, in terms of how you give CBD to your dog, you should understand these basics.

The 3 categories of CBD are:

– Full Spectrum: CBD that contains all of the cannabinoids and terpenes found in the CBD plant, including THC.

– Broad Spectrum: CBD that contains all of the cannabinoids and terpenes found in the CBD plant, except THC.

– Isolate: CBD that only contains cannabinol

The consensus is that the EDB system reacts best to the full range of cannabinoids so we recommend full-spectrum CBD for your dog, however, if for some reason your dog needs to take a drug test in the near future, broad-spectrum CBD should work fine…

Giving CBD to Your Dog

The type of CBD you have will determine how you give it to your dog. If CBD has been specially formulated to be eaten or drank (water-soluble), then it’s a pretty straightforward process. You can give it to Fido or Snoopy in his/her normal doggy dish, or as we recommend, a treat! If you have CBD oil you should rub it on their gums. CBD oil is best absorbed through the bloodstream and not the digestive tract and the gums are a perfect place to do so. Under the tongue also is a great place to administer CBD but we won’t even pretend that this is possible with any happy healthy dog.
